Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from dentists buying and selling equipment on Operatory Auctions.

For Sellers

Listing & Selling

Questions about listing your equipment, the inspection process, and how you get paid.

How much does it cost to list my equipment?

Nothing. Listing is completely free. There is no seller commission and no fees of any kind to sellers. You keep every dollar of the final sale price. Buyers pay a 12% buyer's premium — that is how we operate.

Do you inspect the equipment before listing it?

Yes. A certified dental equipment technician visits your practice and documents condition grade, serial number, service history, and photographs everything. Buyers can see exactly what they are getting before they bid — which leads to stronger bids.

What types of equipment do you accept?

We accept all dental practice equipment including dental chairs and delivery units, panoramic and CBCT imaging systems, CEREC and CAD/CAM milling units, digital X-ray sensors, sterilization and autoclave equipment, compressors and vacuum systems, handpieces, and full practice liquidations. If you're unsure whether your equipment qualifies, submit an inquiry to osita@operatoryauctions.com and we'll get back to you.

How does the process work from start to finish?

Submit the form on our Sell page. We personally review every inquiry and follow up to discuss your equipment and listing options. We publish the listing, manage buyer questions, run the 7-day auction, collect payment, coordinate pickup or freight, and wire your full sale price within 5 business days. Nothing deducted, no fees to you.

Do I have to be present during the inspection?

We ask that you or a staff member be available to provide access. The inspection typically takes 1–3 hours depending on equipment volume.

What if my equipment doesn't sell?

We will discuss options, including relisting, adjusting the reserve price, or exploring other channels. We never pressure you to accept a price you are not comfortable with.

How do I get paid?

Once the auction closes and buyer payment clears, we wire your full sale price to your bank account within 5 business days. No commission, no deductions.

Do you handle shipping and logistics?

Yes. We coordinate buyer pickup or freight shipping. You don't need to arrange anything.

For Buyers

Bidding & Buying

Questions about how auctions work, listing types, payment, and delivery.

Is it free to register?

Yes. Completely free. No credit card required.

What is the buyer's premium?

We charge a 12% buyer's premium on all winning bids. It is always shown on the listing before bidding opens. No surprises at checkout.

What happens after I win?

You receive an invoice by email. Payment is due within 2 business days. We accept ACH, wire transfer, and credit card for purchases under $5,000. Once payment clears we coordinate pickup or freight to your practice.

What if the equipment doesn't match the listing?

You have a 5-day inspection window after delivery. If equipment materially differs from what was documented in the listing, contact osita@operatoryauctions.com immediately and we will resolve it.

What states do you serve?

Launching in Alabama and Florida in 2026, expanding nationally throughout the year. Register on the buyer waitlist and we'll notify you when inventory is live in your area.

Do you source from dealers?

Never. We source exclusively from dental practices, DSOs, and dental labs. You are always buying from the original clinical owner, not a reseller.
